Scottsdale Pediatric Dentist - Dr. Olga Dolghier

Meet Your Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Olga Dolghier

Dr. Olga Dolghier founded Palm Valley Pediatric Dentistry with one belief: children who feel safe at the dentist grow into adults who take their oral health seriously.
She completed her dental degree and pediatric specialty residency, then pursued advanced training in laser dentistry, airway-focused care, and tongue- and lip-tie release.
These services are offered in-house at PVPD, so families can receive specialized care from a doctor their child already knows and trusts.
Dr. Dolghier is active in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, supports local school oral health education, and mentors future pediatric dental professionals. She brings the same careful standard to every visit, from a first cleaning to orthodontic treatment.

Pediatric Dental Services We Offer for North Scottsdale Kids

Preventive Cleanings
& Exams

Twice-yearly cleanings and digital X-rays to catch problems before they start. We apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants to protect teeth from decay in decay-prone grooves.

Baby’s First
Dental Visit

Your child’s first appointment should happen within six months of the first tooth appearing. We guide parents on feeding, teething, and what to watch for during early development.

Laser Dentistry
for Kids

No drill noise, no vibration, less anesthesia. Our soft-tissue laser handles cavities, gum treatment, and frenectomies with surgical precision and minimal discomfort in a single visit.

Sedation &
In-Office Anesthesia

For anxious children or complex multi-procedure appointments, we offer nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and in-office general anesthesia, all administered by board-certified anesthesiologists.

Tongue & Lip
Tie Release

Undiagnosed tongue and lip ties affect breastfeeding, speech, and sleep. We perform precise laser frenectomies that take minutes, require no stitches, and show immediate functional improvement.

Special Needs
Dentistry

Children with autism, sensory processing disorders, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome receive care calibrated to their specific behavioral and physical needs, including sensory-adapted visits and flexible scheduling.

Airway & Obstruction
Assessment

Mouth breathing and sleep-disordered breathing in children trace back to airway anatomy. We screen for obstructions, enlarged tonsils, and structural issues that affect sleep quality and cognitive development.

Pulp Therapy
(Pediatric Root Canal)

When a cavity reaches the pulp of a baby tooth, we perform a pulpotomy or pulpectomy to save the tooth rather than extract it, preserving the space needed for permanent teeth to erupt correctly.

Space
Maintainers

When a baby tooth is lost early, the surrounding teeth drift inward and block the eruption of permanent teeth. Space maintainers hold the gap open so adult teeth have room to erupt in the correct position.

Traditional
Braces

Metal and ceramic bracket systems that correct crowding, spacing, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. We use self-ligating brackets that require fewer adjustments and shorten total treatment time.

Invisalign
for Teens

Clear removable aligners that straighten teeth without brackets or wires. Teen-specific Invisalign includes compliance indicators and extra replacement aligners to account for an active teenage life.

Jaw Correction &
Expanders

Palate expanders and functional appliances during Phase 1 treatment (ages 7–10) guide jaw development before the permanent teeth arrive, reducing the need for extractions or surgery later.

Why Choose PVPD in North Scottsdale?

Laser-First Approach

We reach for the laser before the drill whenever applicable. Laser dentistry eliminates the vibration and sound that trigger dental anxiety, which is the real reason many kids dislike visits to the dentist. As a result, fewer children need sedation.

Board Certification, Not Just a License

Any dentist can call themselves a pediatric dentist. Board certification from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry requires a two- to three-year specialty residency, comprehensive exams, and continuing recertification. It is the difference between a specialist and a generalist.

Two Specialties, One Appointment

We see children who need a cavity filled and an orthodontic evaluation in a single visit. No second practice, no separate referral, and no scheduling gap. That is rare in pediatric dental care and genuinely saves families time.

Teledentistry for Follow-Ups

Post-procedure check-ins, minor concerns, and retainer questions do not always require driving to the office. PVPD offers teledentistry consultations so parents can get answers fast without disrupting their week.

Sensory-Adapted Environment

The office is designed around child psychology, not adult preferences. Lighting, sound levels, waiting room layout, and procedural communication are all calibrated to reduce sensory overload and build trust before the chair.

Community-Embedded Practice

PVPD is the official dental partner of the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks. We sponsor local youth sports teams across the Valley. This is not branding. It is a reflection of where our priorities sit outside the office.

Peoples Also Ask

A pediatric dentist cares for children’s teeth, gums, bite, and oral development from infancy through the teen years. The focus is on prevention, early treatment, child comfort, and helping parents manage dental habits at each stage.

Your child should have their first dental visit when the first tooth comes in, or around age 1. This early visit helps check growth, spot early risks, and guide parents on brushing, feeding habits, and cavity prevention.

Most children should visit every six months for an exam and cleaning. Some may need closer monitoring if they have cavities, braces, gum concerns, enamel weakness, or a higher risk of tooth decay.

Yes. Baby teeth help with chewing, speech, jaw development, and spacing for adult teeth. If a baby tooth gets infected or is lost too early, it can affect comfort, alignment, and future dental growth.

Call a pediatric dentist as soon as possible. Tooth pain, swelling, sensitivity, or a bad taste in the mouth can indicate decay, injury, or infection that needs prompt attention.

Yes. The North Scottsdale office provides orthodontic support for children and teens, including evaluations of crowding, spacing, bite problems, jaw growth, and braces, as well as clear aligner options when suitable.
